Programme in Knowledge Management (KL-PIKM)

Leveraging your Knowledge Assets for  Competitive Advantage

(under the auspices of USB-ED)

Objectives

This programme will provide an overview of the field of knowledge management (KM) and introduce participants to the value of knowledge and information. It will show participants how corporate knowledge can be harnessed to benefit all concerned – both the organisation and its employees. It  offers participants the opportunity to examine the various processes and strategies that can be used to turn an organisation’s intellectual and knowledge assets – both recorded information (contained within and outside the organization) and the ‘know-how’ of its members – into greater productivity, new value, and increased competitiveness.

We will examine how Knowledge Management can create strategic advantage in an organisation; the importance of knowledge networking and the relationship between leadership and knowledge roles. We will outline how organisations can best leverage their intellectual capital and how they can apply appropriate information and communication technologies (ICT’s) to assist in the effective identification, retrieval, exchange and dissemination of all forms of knowledge to support organisational objectives.
